Why Northbrook Park is a gift for a photographer
Northbrook Park is a Grade II listed Georgian house near Farnham, in the Hampshire countryside on the Surrey border. It was built for a naval officer, Admiral Sir John Acworth Ommanney, and it sits on its own 120-acre estate.
Everything happens on one estate: getting ready, the ceremony, the photos and the party. Less time in cars means more time for pictures.
The grounds have walled gardens, a lake with swans, and peacocks. The house itself is covered in ivy, with a white columned porch at the front door.
It is an easy drive from our base in Berkshire.
The best photographs happen at Northbrook Park
The front of the house. The ivy and the white columns make a classic backdrop. It is where I take the portraits that end up framed on the wall.
The Vine Room. This is the ceremony room, with crystal chandeliers, a marble floor and a grand fireplace. Tall French windows fill it with soft light, which is kind to everyone.
The courtyard. A good spot for the confetti walk straight after the ceremony, and for golden portraits as the sun goes down.
The Walled Gardens. Old brick walls and clipped hedges. There is plenty of room here for your group photos and for the whole wedding party to let off some steam.
The tree-lined drive. Ten quiet minutes walking along the avenue gives you relaxed, natural photos of just the two of you.
The Orangery at night. The glass roof and brick walls come alive once the lights go down and the dance floor fills up.
How I work
I am there to capture real moments, not to run a long list of poses. I have been praised for being discreet and for staying out of the way of the day.
When you want a few portraits, I give gentle direction and keep it quick. Fully candid, or with some creative direction: you choose.
I usually cover the day from the final touches of getting ready until an hour after the first dance. Before the wedding, I like to walk the grounds with you so we can plan the best spots for your time of year.
I keep my colour natural, and I love a timeless black and white.

How many guests can Northbrook Park hold?
Up to 250 guests for the wedding breakfast and evening party in the Orangery. The Vine Room seats up to 200 for the ceremony.
Can you get married outside at Northbrook Park?
The Walled Gardens are used for open-air ceremonies and drinks. The Vine Room is the venue's licensed ceremony room, so check with the venue which spaces are licensed for your date.
Can you use confetti at Northbrook Park?
Yes, outside only, and it must be natural and light in colour. Confetti cannons are not allowed, and the venue charges for cleaning up anything else.
What happens if it rains at Northbrook Park?
There are covered walkways around the site, and the Vine Room is turned round for drinks. For photos, the columned front porch and the big windows of the Vine Room give us lovely light even on a grey day.
What time do weddings finish at Northbrook Park?
Music stops at 11.30pm and guests leave by midnight. Sparklers are allowed, so a sparkler exit is a great way to end the night. Fireworks and sky lanterns are not allowed.
